Goldfields has broken ground on 88 Robertson Street, its 16-storey A-Grade office development in the James Street precinct.
“We are committed to SEQ and believe its underlying economic fundamentals, continued population growth, and the 2032 Olympics are driving significant demand across all sectors,” Thompson said. “With Quartet and 88 Robertson now under way, we’re focusing our approach now on 150-200 apartment sites in and around metro Brisbane through to the Sunshine Coast … as well as growing the pipeline across our masterplanned community vertical.” Thompson said 88 Robertson was the second project Goldfields has delivered with ULTRA, after The Bryson, a luxury residential tower at Chatswood in NSW, which is nearing completion. “ULTRA’s proven track record of delivering high-quality projects, combined with Goldfields’ experience in delivering premium, lifestyle-led commercial assets, will ensure 88 Robertson becomes a highly sought-after office address,” he said. ULTRA managing director Adrian Sicari said the builder was looking forward to bringing Goldfields’ design-led vision to life. “88 Robertson will give Brisbane’s creative industries and professional service providers a progressive, next-generation office environment where ideas, collaboration, and culture seamlessly intersect with work and lifestyle,” he said. Goldfields will relocate its Brisbane office to 88 Robertson once complete. Construction is scheduled to finish in the second half of 2028.

ULTRA Queensland, an Australian-owned and operated construction firm, was tapped for the project as builder and delivery partner. The project will create 17,000sq m of office space, along with end- of-trip facilities, dedicated levels of serviced office and wellness offerings, and landscaped outdoor wintergardens. A rooftop dining and events space is planned, with views across the Brisbane River, the CBD and Mt Coot-tha. The office project is the second Goldfields development to start construction in Brisbane in the past two months. Its Milton luxury apartment tower, Quartet, broke ground in August. Together, the two projects take Goldfields’ built form pipeline to more than $450 million. Goldfields chief executive Lachlan Thompson said the project draws on the group’s experience developing its Melbourne headquarters, Goldfields House, and adapting it for the Brisbane market. “Workplaces have changed fundamentally,” Thompson says. “Businesses are no longer looking simply for a floorplate – they are looking for environments that help their people connect, perform, and enjoy being at work.” He said the design pairs workplace performance with the hospitality, wellness and outdoor lifestyle of the James Street precinct, making the most of Brisbane’s subtropical climate.
