What is your secret to achieving the exceptional results that you have? Following a strict structure, and executing the process is key in achieving results. As a team, we all focus on transparency, accountability and ensuring that we are constantly learning and growing as a unit rather than focusing on individual paths. Whilst this is important, having a sound backboard and a motivated collective yields greater result than singularly running our own race. We share our visions and set clear goals. Enjoying what you do also plays a contributing role in success, not seeing work as a job – however something to look forward too every day. What are some of the most significant or rewarding projects that you’ve been involved in and why? As a team, this year specifically after focusing more on the Hotels space, has seen our involvement in a number of assets that previously we would not have imagined. Notably, the Sofitel Adelaide located at 108 Currie Street is the first internationally branded five-star hotel to be built in Adelaide in the last 30 years. Being involved in this campaign saw our team connect with on and offshore funds and syndicates, high net worth and opportunistic investors globally.
What advice would you give property developers today? There are a few key decisions that property developers need to ensure they get right. Margins have certainly compressed, with construction costs up nearly 30% - so being attune to the following factors is imperative. Location of a development is key, tolerance for risk and timeframe are the main three areas of development I would focus on for developers.
